Patrice Evra says that he was left angered by Carlos Tevez’ decision to join Manchester City even when he was aware of the animosity between Manchester United and City.

The two Manchester clubs are regarded as fierce rivals, but Tevez was not worried about such issues when he felt that he was not given the proper importance at Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson started preferring the combination of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo more and more during the second season at Old Trafford. Moreover, United were also contemplating a lot about being the £25 million demanded byTevez’ agent for the permanent transfer.

City did not think twice about this sum of money. Boasted by funds from the Arab owners and after having failed to secure a marquee signing in the form of Kaka, the club decided to bring in Tevez at all costs. Apart from the mammoth transfer fee, the club also came up with a £250,000 per week contract for the Argentine striker.

The move to the Etihad stadium at the start of the 2009-10 season was witnessed has a historic event since there has been little movement between the two clubs in terms of players transfers. Evra was seen as a key figure in the United team back then, and he has spoken about the disappointment of Tevez’ decision.

“I was not pleased when he joined Manchester City in 2009. I was really annoyed because he was a great player. There are two sides to every story, I understand that and football can be complicated, but I didn’t like it when he was on the banner saying “Welcome to Manchester” after he signed for City and I told him so.We joked a little, we stayed close friends and Mr Ferguson didn’t always like that, especially when he saw us pictured outside a restaurant in a newspaper,” said Evra.

Carlos Tevez has had a strikingly interesting career, one which has seen him play in the forward position for various clubs from 2001 to date.

Carlos, who started his career with the Boca Juniors in 2001 before moving to Corinthians in 2005, is currently playing for Boca Junior after moving back from Juventus in 2015. The striker however, is set to return to Corinthians after a short spell with the Boca Juniors.

His move is amidst reports that former club, Juventus wish to get him back to their fold. Indications have it that the striker has no intention of going back to Juve but wishes to sign on to a Brazilian club. Tevez has also had stints with top clubs like West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, before returning Boca Juniors.

News reports from Football Italia suggests that Carlos Tevez would go on to sign for former club, Corinthians despite indications from his agent that Juventus wanted the striker back. His agent, Kia Joorabchian while speaking to reporters recently in Argentina had this to say,

“Obviously we can only say Carlos is a Corinthians player after the signatures,” Kia Joorabchian told reporters.
“We’re talking about a done deal though, the transfer is done it’s just missing the signature on the contract. There were offers from Juventus, Atletico Madrid and two English clubs but Carlos prefers to go back to Brazil.”
The 32-year old player only managed to appear 23 times in his second spell with the Boca Juniors, and ended with just 9 goals. With his current move to Corinthians, it is most likely that he would retire there.

On the international level, the forward has been left out by head coach Edgardo Bauza with a few people such as Maradona clamoring for his recall.

Argentina national team coach Edgardo Bauza has addressed the lingering issue regarding the snub of Inter Milan in-form forward Mauro Icardi.

The manager has been heavily criticized for leaving out the hugely talented striker, particularly in a season when he has been off the charts.

“If I want to call him, I will,” Bauza said. After a draw against Peru and a shocking home loss to Paraguay in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, Bauza has come under fire. Fans protest at his refusal to leave out the Serie A striker despite having an impressive record of 58 goals in 114 games for Inter Milan.

“If I want to call Icardi, then I will. At this moment, I prefer Gonzalo Higuain and Lucas Pratto,” bauza told ItaSportPress.

Icardi has featured for the Argentine senior side only once despite his outstanding record and form at club level. After losing two back to back Copa America finals, and the 2014 World Cup finals, Bauza is under intense pressure to succeed with the golden generation of Argentina football stars. Bauza said he is working towards helping Tevez return to national team football despite the numerous options available. Continue reading

Joorabchian, who convinced Tevez to move to England, said the comments of the talented striker should be taken with a pinch of salt. Tevez started his career with Boca Juniors before the 2000s. He moved to Corinthians in Brazil before Joorabchian convinced him to join West Ham United in England in 2006.
