Carlos Tevez not leaving China – agent

Agent Adrian Ruocco has revealed that Carlos Tevez will not be leaving Shanghai Shenhua in the near future.

The Argentina international has been recently linked with a move to Palmeira after falling out of favour at Shenhua due to his poor form and fitness.

Tevez, 33, joined the Far East outfit from Boca Juniors in December 2016, and he has since managed just three goals across all competitions for the club. In the same period, the Chinese giants have slumped into mid-table, and the club’s hierarchy have criticised Tevez for the lack of impact despite being paid hefty wages.

The former Manchester United and Juventus forward was recently linked with a potential switch to Brazil with Palmeiras, but his representative Ruocco has dismissed the speculation, he told Globoesporte: “There is nothing [with Palmeiras]. It’s all false. No one from Palmeiras spoke to me. Tevez will stay in China.”

Tevez was a regular during the start of the campaign as he got a regular nod under manager Gus Poyet. However, since the Uruguayan’s resignation, the Argentine has fallen down the pecking order with new coach Wu Jingui demanding more from the forward in terms of fitness.

The veteran last appeared for Shenhua during the 6-1 embarrassment to city rivals Shanghai SIPG on September 16, and he has since been put under an individual training regime. In this period, Shenhua have gone three games unbeaten, winning twice, including a 1-0 triumph over Shanghai Shenxin in the FA Cup last week.

Tevez has the option of triggering a release clause in his contract at the completion of his first-year, but there are not many clubs in the world, who would be interested in a player past his prime. The Argentine has shown little ambition on the playing field in China, and he has literally ended his chances of making his comeback to the national setup.
