Carlos Tevez managed to mark his debut with a goal, as he scored from the penalty spot against Jiangsu Suning to help Shanghai Shenhua secure a 4-0 win.

Apart from scoring the goal, Tevez also provided two assists to his teammates. Signed for around € 11 million from Boca Juniors, Tevez has recently been named as the world’s highest paid player with a salary of around £ 600,000 per week. He earns more than double that of superstars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Chinese Super League has been looking to tempt a number of top players to move to their league.
Shanghai Shenhua favourites to win the league title this season as a result of possessing top players like Tevez. An experienced professional who has played for the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and Juventus, Tevez will be able to provide his expert knowledge on the game to the existing players at Shanghai Shenhua.
Manager Gus Poyet is someone who is familiar about the Argentine striker as a result of being a pundit and an opposition manager when Tevez was making his name in English football. Poyet says that it was extremely important for Tevez to start his time with Shanghai Shenhua well. The goal will help him settle immediately and take a lot of pressure off him.
“I am extremely happy for Tevez. Goals are important and he has started his CSL journey with goals. The four goals are all linked to him but he needs the team to work as a whole,” said Poyet.“I’m very happy that we won. The first game of the season is very, very important,” said former Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, whose Shanghai SIPG team managed to secure a 5-1 win on the opening day. Shanghai SIPG brought in Oscar as their marquee signing.
