Mourinho Praises Fabregas Again

Jose Mourinho has once again praised Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas by saying that the 27-year-old feels like the missing piece in the jigsaw. The Spaniard has come to Chelsea this summer for a relatively low transfer fee of just £ 30 million. Regarded as one of the world class midfielders, Chelsea immediately pounced on the opportunity to sign him. He has been an influential figure in Chelsea’s pre-season friendly matches. Jose Mourinho has been employing him in a number of positions, but predominantly in the midfield, and this has had varying effects.

Fabregas is capable of even playing as a false striker, as he has done so for Barcelona on several occasions. Attributing to this aspect, Mourinho said that Fabregas is a player who is adept in every position. Even though he is not the quickest midfielder, he manages to take advantage over the opposition with his other skills. Rating them as excellent, Mourinho says that the vision and passing ability of Fabregas will be crucial especially in matches when opposition put a lot of players behind the ball.

The ability to find players with a long diagonal ball will come in handy during counter-attack situations. Fabregas is expected to be partnered by Nemanja Matic in the centre of midfield.

“I see him everywhere. Because he can play everywhere. His best quality is the speed at which he analyses the game and executes. He’s very intelligent. And gives you goals. Fabregas is the missing piece of our engine. He has a football brain we need in our team. All the players have a fantastic feeling around Cesc. They really feel that he sees football too fast. It is so rare that he loses the ball or makes a wrong decision,” said Mourinho, who has also brought in Diego Costa and Filipe Luis.
